Today marks a milestone for Dify – our second open-source anniversary. It's a moment to reflect on where we started and look ahead to where we're going. We decided to refresh the design of our identity to better reflect our core beliefs and vision.
Our Intention: Asking What if
Two years ago, Dify was open-sourced on GitHub with questions posed to the future:
What would happen if AI could be built and controlled by everyone?
What kind of transformation would bring if everyone's idea had the opportunity to be validated as a capability?
What if the community, not tech companies, got to decide where technology goes? How would that change things for people?
We sought answers with open source. What we built was not just a product, or participation in model racing or feature stacking game. We came with the intention of giving everyone the right to ask What if. Because what truly drives us forward is never these tools, but the people who choose to stand firmly on the side of possibility, even when the world sticks with certainty.
What if … Today: Our New Identity
Today, we've refreshed our identity, making it closer to our original intention and direction.
We separate "if" from "Dify", and turned "if" into a more thoughtful, retro typewriter font for it. This symbolizes a connection to foundational ideas and intellectual curiosity. The "Dy" retains a modern, sans-serif feeling, representing futurism and momentum forward. This design bridges the past and the future, reflecting our approach to technology within an infinite hypothesis of possibilities – one that is rational and measured.
More than just an element, the "if" in Dify signifies a unique way of thinking:
Connecting the rigorous logic of algorithms with humanity's boundless imagination for possibility.
Bridging rational optimism with the inherent uncertainty of the future.
Binding the controllability of technology with the infinite variability of the world.
This blend of design meets comments from our community users: Restrained, Flexible, and Rapidly Iteration.
Imagine if: The Language of Creators
At Dify, we believe "if" is the language of creators, builders, and those who are consciously awake. It's the spirit that dares to imagine, to practice, and to forge new paths within existing rules.
The spirit of "Imagine if" isn't just a historical footnote; it's in our community today. Just as pioneers like Ford, the Wright Brothers, and Turing reshaped the world by asking that "if". You – our users, developers, and contributors – are doing the same thing right now with Dify. You are building your unique "if"s, making the future of technology not decided by just a few, while accelerating countless new possibilities into existence.
